A Look Back on 2017

The Christmas celebrations are well and truly over (*sobs*) and another year has gone by. How has that happened? Maybe it’s a sign of getting older but I’m sure years are passing by much quicker than they used to!

2017 has been an odd one for me. It’s been filled with ups and downs and I’ve learnt a lot about myself in the process…

I’m Engaged!

Getting engaged to my better half was definitely the highlight of my year. It couldn’t have happened in a more romantic location – on the edge of Lake Como in Italy – and it was a complete surprise. The ring is perfect and was picked out by my other half which makes it all the more special. I might do a separate blog post on this later to document our travels to Italy as it is such a beautiful place that everyone should visit if they get the chance.

Proposal Number Two

Another highlight of 2017 would definitely be me asking my sisters, best friend, sisters in law and niece to be our bridesmaids. A total of six – I might just be mad! I put together ‘proposal boxes’ and presented them to each of my bridesmaids over Christmas. I cannot explain to you how heartwarming their reactions were and I’ll treasure those forever.

New Friend

I’ve met some fantastic people through Twitter who have been so incredibly supportive and amazing at giving advice and support. I cannot thank you guys enough and I can’t wait to meet you all soon – hopefully! Here’s to you guys – Melissa, Beth, Andy, Ross and Becky xx

And now the not so nice moments…

My First Panic Attack

The worst moment of 2017? Without a doubt experiencing my first panic attack. Absolutely terrifying. Despite it being an awful experience, it definitely prompted me to ask for the help I needed. My phobia, anxiety and OCD were finally diagnosed by my GP and it answered questions that I’d been asking myself for a very long time. It also enabled me to open up completely with my fiancé and my sister. I’m yet to fully open up to the rest of my family, but I’m sure that will come in due course. Every cloud has a silver lining.

The Future!

I’ll be honest, I’m a little scared at what 2018 will bring, but I’m also excited. My wedding planning will hopefully be in full swing and I’ll be continuing with this blog which I am absolutely loving writing.

Wishing you all love, health and happiness for 2018.
